We Do This ‘Til We Free Us

“I live in a place where everybody watches you everywhere you go”
Why is it that in America black people still aren’t free? Why can’t we as black people be able to move around in this world freely without being watched? I shouldn’t have to look over my shoulder everywhere I go to, being in fear that someone may want to harm me because of the color of my skin. However, why is it that my fellow black people also want to harm me? It should be okay for us to be from two different blocks and still be cordial, be in two different gangs and still be cordial.
Not all black men are a threat to society, and they shouldn’t have to settle for being violated for no apparent reason. Black men should be able to have nice things and society not question if they stole these things are sold drugs to buy them. I was in Saks Fifth Avenue one day looking to purchase a new perfume, and as I was walking around browsing I noticed a security guard following these two men watching their EVERY move, eventually the men noticed it too and they stopped, looked at the guard and one of them said “I promise you can stop following us, whatever we decide to get out of this store we can walk up the counter and purchase with our hard earned money.” I was glad that they spoke up fort themselves. However, I was angry at the fact that even happened. So again, I ask, why is it that in America black people still aren’t free.
